Respite & Overnight Care (NDIS)
Short breaks, real support - at home or at ours.
Everyone needs a break now and then — whether you’re a carer or someone living with a disability. That’s where respite care comes in. At United for Care, we offer two flexible options to suit your life and what works best for you:
1. In-home respite care
We come to you. This option means you or your loved one can stay at home, stick to familiar routines, and still get the support you need.
We offer:
- Daytime respite
- Sleepover shifts – a support worker stays overnight and sleeps onsite, available if needed
- Active overnight shifts – a support worker stays awake all night to provide support when needed
- Emergency support in your home
Overnight care at home might include:
- Help with toileting or continence
- Medication reminders
- Repositioning in bed
- Support with night-time anxiety
- General safety and wellbeing checks
2. Short stays in our homes
Sometimes a change of scene is just what’s needed. Our Short-Term Accommodation (STA) options are available in several of our Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes.
Here, participants can:
- Stay in a safe, welcoming space with 24/7 support
- Take a break in a new environment
- Build confidence, make connections, and enjoy a change of pace
It’s ideal for planned stays, a weekend breather, or even a holiday-style escape.

Who is respite for?
Respite care is available to both adults and children with NDIS plans — especially if you have Core Supports funding. Whether you're planning ahead or need something urgently, we're here to help.
