Respite & Overnight Care (NDIS)

Short breaks, long-term benefits

Everyone needs a break. Whether you're a full-time carer or a person living with disability, quality respite care provides the time, space, and support you need to rest, reset, or recover. At United For Care, our Respite and Overnight Care services are tailored to each person’s routine, preferences, and support needs—day or night.

What is NDIS Respite Care?
Under the NDIS, respite care is known as Short-Term Accommodation and Assistance (STA). It gives people with disabilities the opportunity to stay in a supported environment for a short period—away from their usual home—while their regular carers take a break.

We provide:

  • Day and overnight respite stays
  • Weekend respite care
  • Emergency respite
  • Holiday-style short-term accommodation
  • Planned overnight support at home

Respite care can also be delivered in Supported Independent Living (SIL) settings for short durations, especially where ongoing overnight care support is needed.

For participants:
A change of environment can build confidence, social skills, and independence. Our warm, welcoming respite homes offer meaningful routines, new friendships, and safe, supervised fun.

For carers:
Respite lets you rest, recharge, and return to caring with renewed energy. Whether it’s a few hours during the day or a few nights away, you’ll have peace of mind knowing your loved one is in good hands.

Overnight Care at Home
We also offer overnight support for participants who require assistance through the night. This includes:

  • Sleepover shifts (support worker sleeps overnight but is available if needed)
  • Active overnight shifts (support worker stays awake and provides direct support)

Overnight care may involve help with:

  • Toileting or continence care
  • Medication prompts
  • Repositioning in bed
  • Night-time anxiety support

Who is it for?
Respite and overnight care services are available to both adults and children with NDIS plans, especially those with Core Supports funding.

Whether you're planning ahead or urgently need support, our team is here to help. At United For Care, respite is more than a service—it’s a moment of rest, care, and possibility.

Beacon of hope for our family when my sister suffered a stroke that left her non-verbal and with a permanent physical disability. Their dedicated and compassionate team provided quality care and emotional support, bringing hope and normalcy back into our lives.
