Wollongong Open Day
United for Care is passionate about working together. We greatly appreciate everyone who attended our Wollongong Open Day. The day started with a Smoking Ceremony from the Illawarra Aboriginal Corporation. This traditional ceremony is commonly used to cleanse people, places and bring healing. For United for Care, our Wollongong site isn’t just a building that we provide, it is a space for the people we support to experience a sense of belonging, build connections and be more involved in their community.
The communal room at Thomas Street was transformed into a collaborative space. This is where providers, participants and the public could view United for Care’s SIL & SDA apartments as well as meet the United for Care team. There were display rooms and guided tours through the SIL & SDA apartments. This is where questions can be directly asked to the team who will be on-site.
A big shout out to @juzzt_jam for creating an atmosphere of fun, joy and laughter with their live music. There was United for Care cupcakes, freshly baked by @celebratenow.com.au. The Plant Room by @thedisabilitytrust provided us with the yummiest croissants and wraps. The @nrl_dragons Football team filled out our table with the latest hats, bottles and keychains ready for the new season. With many visitors, tours and cupcakes, the Open Day was a great success.
