Welcome to Liverpool, a dynamic and bustling city on the southwestern edge of Sydney! In our new Location Spotlight series, we'll be touring some of the happening neighbourhoods that Vertika's Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) properties are located in.

Whether you're a history buff, a nature enthusiast, or a social butterfly, Liverpool offers exactly what you’re after.

Liverpool is one of Sydney’s most multicultural areas, with over 48% of its residents having been born overseas. There are large communities from India, Lebanon and Italy, who make up over 17% of a vibrant and diverse urban population.

So, without further ado, unpack your bags and get ready to discover what could be your next neighborhood!

When it comes to culinary adventures in Liverpool, you'll be spoilt for choice. From award-winning restaurants to hidden cafes serving up steaming flat whites, there's something to tantalise every taste bud.

  • The Macquarie Inn: This historic pub, built in 1820, offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. Tuck into classic pub fare or sample their impressive selection of craft beers on tap.

  • Casula Power Centre: For a more budget-friendly shopping experience, head to Casula Power Centre. This outlet centre features a variety of discounted brand-name stores, perfect for finding a bargain.

The spacious and modern Turbine Hall in the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre boasts a range of digital art installations.

Events Calendar

Liverpool offers a jam-packed schedule of events that will keep you busy and entertained all year round. Some annual events you might want to get involved with include:

  • EuroFest: A cultural event held every May that celebrates the magic of Europe, with food and activities showcasing European delights.
  • NAIDOC Celebrations: Every year in July Liverpool holds a family fun day with live performances, food, free kids activities, and a range of participating organisations representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Starry Sari Nights: A vibrant bazaar of spices and fabric held on George Street in September each year.
  • Primavera: An event that offers the chance to experience the vibrant flavors, colours and sounds of Latin America, held each year in November.
  • Pasifika Summer: A vibrant festival that celebrates the cultures of the Pacific Islands, held at Macquarie Mall in November each year.
  • Liverpool Garden Competition: An event that runs throughout the year where residents are encouraged to nominate their gardens. Winners are announced and a trail is organised to showcase the winning gardens.

Disability Support with Liverpool City Council

According to Liverpool City Council’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan, one in every nineteen residents in the city lives with a disability. Subsequently, the local council recognises the importance of creating an inclusive and supportive environment for everybody.  

Liverpool’s accessible urban spaces, parks and public facilities are the result of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan. If you’re moving around the city, Liverpool City Council’s CBD Mobility Map and Accessible Toilet and Playground Map will help you find your way with ease.
